NEW YORK—In the relatively quiet art-market time between Frieze week, FIAC, and the November New York sales, it pays to invest some hours trolling for bargains in Chelsea.

Though it turned out to be more coincidental than deliberate, on a recent stroll I happened to stumble across several artists who seem to have American presidents on their minds. (The election is barely a year away, after all.)
