AUSTIN, Texas— Katrina Moorhead has received this year's $30,000 Arthouse Texas Prize, one of the largest regional arts awards in the United States.
The work Moorhead created for the prize will be exhibited at Arthouse in Austin through November 11 alongside submissions from the competition's four other finalists: Dawolu Jabari Anderson, Justin Boyd, Margarita Cabrera, and Bill Davenport. David Hickey presented the prize to Moorhead—a native of Northern Ireland who has lived in Texas for 10 years—at the Arthouse Texas Prize Champagne, Caviar, Hog & Hominy party last week. Moorhead's work, which focuses on the collision between human and natural creations, was part of the 2005 Venice Biennial and the subject of a recent solo show at the University of Houston's Blaffer Gallery. |
