LONDON—Bonhams auction house is planning the world's first auction dedicated solely to urban art, where works by New York graffiti artists from the 1980s will go under the hammer next to pieces by current London street artists such as Banksy, the Independent reports. The sale, slated for February 5,  includes work by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, David Salle, Adam Neate, and D*Face, and provides a "'visual history' of how the genre they established came out of the slums to become the toast of the art world," according to the newspaper. Bonhams spokeswoman Michelle Gonsalves said, "There are parallels to be drawn between how and what was expressed through the New York arts scene of the 1980s by artists such as Basquiat, Haring, and Salle, to what is currently taking place in London by artists such as Banksy and Neate." Offerings include Banksy's screen print of Kate Moss, estimated to sell for up to £30,000 ($62,000), Insect's Elvis, estimated at up to £8,000; and Haring's Pop VI, estimated at up to £2,000.
