LIVERPOOL, England—American actor and filmmaker Dennis Hopper will present this year's Turner Prize at the Tate Liverpool gallery on December 3, the BBC reports.

Hopper, 71, is also a painter and photographer, who has been featured in retrospectives in Amsterdam, Vienna, and St. Petersburg and currently has an exhibition of photos on view in Moscow.

Selected as 2008's European Capital of Culture, Liverpool will host this year's Turner ceremony and exhibition. Artists Zarina Bhimji, Nathan Coley, Mike Nelson, and Mark Wallinger are shortlisted for the prize.
