New Museum, New PartiesBy ARTINFO

NEW YORK—On Wednesday, November 28, Calvin Klein hosted an exclusive "First Look" party at the New Museum on the Lower East Side before its public opening on December 1. But most of the looking was not at the art but at celebrities: Among the A-list partygoers were Ashley Olsen and Lance Armstrong (who spent the evening dodging each other, maybe in an attempt to nullify rumors of blossoming romance?), Rachel Feinstein, John Currin, Cindy Sherman, and Pharrell Williams.
The night before, Lehmann Maupin, the first major Chelsea gallery to open a space near the New Museum, launched its branch at 201 Chrystie Street. On display was Do-Ho Suh's installation Reflection, viewable from the ground floor and interior balcony of the former East Side Glass Company. Also on Tuesday, Richard Gere hosted the 13th annual ARTWALK NY at the Metropolitan Pavilion, where auctions raised money for the Coalition for the Homeless. In attendance were Agnes Gund, Brice Marden, Andre Balasz, and others; see more by clicking on the photo gallery to your left. |
