PARIS—After being kept in a bank vault for 40 years, a 1927 painting by Joan Miro sold at the auction house Drouot in Paris on Friday for $16.7 million, the highest price ever paid for one of his works, reports the New York Times. The painting, Blue Star, estimated at $7.1–10 million, was one of 10 lots, including works by Picasso, Gris, and Leger, from the collection of Andre Lefevre, a banker and arts patron in the early 20th century. The collection went to European collectors, according to Drouot, fetching a total of $31.3 million.
