NEW YORK—A new space for contemporary art will open by appointment this month in Chelsea, with an inaugural show curated by Chuck Close and featuring works by more than 50 artists, reports the Art Newspaper.

The nonprofit Flag Art Foundation, who sources say was recently created by collector Glenn Fuhrman, (who is also co-head of MSD Capital, a company formed to manage the finances of computer billionaire Michael Dell) has established the gallery, where the first show, "Attention to Detail," with works from Louise Bourgeois, Gerhard Richter, Ed Ruscha, and others will run through April.

Structured similary to Los Angeles collector Eli Broad’s art foundation, Flag Art will lend works, presumably largely from Fuhrman’s own collection, as well as host two or three guest-curated shows of established and emerging international artists at its gallery each year.

Under director Stephanie Roach, the foundation has secured curators for upcoming shows including Sylvia Chivaratanond, who has worked for the Walker Art Center; Kembra Pfahler, the founder and lead singer of art-band The Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black; and professor Susan Cahan.
