NEW YORK—Not ones to skimp on festivities, New York developer
Aby Rosen and
Larry Gagosian cohosted the party of the season at Rosen’s
Lever House to celebrate the installation there of some pickled sheep and a shark by
Damien Hirst. The highlight of the night came when Gagosian, with dealer
Stellan Holm, mounted the stage to belt out the classic song “I Fought the Law.” Not a bad line for the man who weathered an IRS lawsuit in 2003 (Gogo and collector
Peter Brant reportedly agreed to pay a $9.1 million settlement), only to open his seventh gallery last month, in Rome, further burnishing his title as the world’s biggest art dealer.
