The press kit for Takashi Murakami's retrospective
One of the most coveted souvenirs from the
Takashi Murakami retrospective, at the
Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, can’t be found in the gift shop or even in the show’s Louis Vuitton–operated store. A full press kit, along with three souvenir invitations to the opening, turned up on eBay last fall and within a week soared to the winning bid of $152.50. Turns out the seller was L.A. artist
Leigh Salgado, who says she has hawked press packets before. The savvy Salgado won’t say who took home the hot pink Murakami kit but did reveal that it’s going to New York.
