KENT, England—A shortlist was announced Monday of artists vying to create a £2 million ($4 million) sculpture that will tower above an old chalk quarry in Kent, becoming one of the tallest sculptures in Britain, the Guardian reports. Two Turner Prize winners, Mark Wallinger and Rachel Whiteread, along with Richard Deacon, Christopher le Brun, and Daniel Buren, are on the list. The sculpture is planned as a landmark for the new Ebbsfleet International rail station. "This isn't an occasion for irony; it's much too big, twice the size of the Statue of Liberty," Deacon said, "it's going to be a gateway to England for many people."
