NASHVILLE—A judge in Davidson county, Tennessee, has rejected Fisk University's proposal to share its Alfred Stieglitz Collection of modern art with the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, ruling that it would go against the wishes of Georgia O'Keeffe, who donated the 101-piece collection to the traditionally black university in 1949, reports the Associated Press. Fisk had proposed the arrangement with the museum, founded by Wal-Mart heiress Alice L. Walton, as a way to ease its financial problems. A trial scheduled for February 19 will determine whether the university should forfeit the collection to the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe, N.M.
