LONDON—Photo-London has been canceled for 2008. The four-year-old annual photography fair was originally scheduled for May 15 to 18 in Old Billingsgate, London, but Reed Expositions, the company that took over and reorganized the fair in November 2006, said it needs time to build a "viable world class event" that addresses "the changes and challenges of the international photography market." "It is already clear that education will be one of the cornerstones on which Photo-London will develop its program," Reed Expositions said in a press release. "Photo-London has decided to devote 2008 to building its new program and creating a wider network of galleries and buyers, specialising in contemporary photography from around the world. As new synergies in London are being created, the next Photo-London will be postponed until 2009." Reed Expositions, which also runs the international Paris Photo fair, changed Photo-London's focus to photography after 1970 when it took over two years ago, but now says it will exclusively highlight galleries dealing in photography created after 1945.
