NEW YORK—On view through May 10, “Watercolors by Homer: The Color of Light,” an exhibition organized by the Art Institute of Chicago—its sole venue—presents surprising new information about Winslow Homer’s technique and materials. With input from the institute’s curator of prints and drawings, Martha Tedeschi, and museum conservator Kristi Dahm, Art+Auction has selected five pictures from the show that reveal intriguing details about the American master at work. "Web Exclusive: Winslow Homer" was comissioned for the March 2008 web release of Art+Auction.
