LONDON—A nude painting by Lucas Cranach the Elder that ignited controversy after Transport for London banished the work from the London Underground will be allowed to go into the Tube after all, Bloomberg reports. Cranach’s 1532 painting Venus was selected as the promotional image for an exhibition of the German Old Master set to open at the Royal Academy of Arts on March 8, but Transport for London banned the promotional posters, telling the Web site Underwire: “Millions of people travel on the London Underground each day, and they have no choice but to view whatever adverts are posted there. We have to take account of the full range of travelers and endeavor not to cause offense in the advertising we display." However, after the media caught wind of the story, Transport for London relented, and the advertisements will go up after all.
