Canada's largest corporate investor in Cuba has donated a large installation by Havana artist Carlos Garaicoa to the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto, reports the Globe and Mail. The first Cuban work in the museum's permanent collection, the work kicks off a projected five-year process of building a collection of Cuban art there.
The work, Postcapital, replicates national monuments from around the world, with each derived from a different currency.
The installation will go on view this year when the museum reopens after a multimillion-dollar expansion designed by Frank Gehry.
