TURIN, Italy—Marshal Riccardo Ravera, one of Italy's top anti-Mafia police officers, is handing back his bravery medals after being accused of extortion and trafficking stolen art, the Daily Telegraph reports. Investigators believe Ravera might have played a role in the 2004 theft of more than $12 million of art from the Palazzo di Caccia di Stupinigi, the former summer residence of Italy's royal family. Ravera, who was transferred to the art protection squad after years in the anti-Mafia department, received a medal for his role in recovering missing pieces, but prosecutors said they became suspicious when 42 works were returned; only 34 were reported missing.
