NEW YORK—The wine was flowing and toasts were abundant in the New York art world this week, with the American Museum of Natural History staging its annual Winter Dance and winemaker Michael Lynne hosting an unveiling of his Bedell Cellars’ new MUSEE red wine, with label artwork by Chuck Close.

The Winter Dance, sponsored by the designer Roberto Cavalli on March 11, brought a crowd of stars to party beneath the history museum’s giant blue whale, including Hollywood’s Anne Hathaway and Mary-Kate Olsen. A gaggle of socialites also showed, including Byrdie Bell, Tinsley Mortimer (one of the gala’s chairwomen) Vanessa Trump, and Donald Trump, Jr. Designer Cynthia Rowley also was one of the guests, who were treated to dinner, dancing, and dessert.

The party celebrating Close’s artwork for MUSEE at MoMA, on March 10, was a smaller affair, but Close and the Bedell Cellars crew celebrated in a big way.
