LONDON—An artist's proof of a
Grayson Perry etching,
Map of an Englishman, which playfully maps out a mind and includes places named "Self-Relief" and "Baked Beans," sold for about 13 times its original value last night, Bloomberg reports. The print, estimated at £25,000 to £35,000, went for £41,300 ($82,400) as part of a
Christie's sale of prints from the
Paragon Press.
Charles Booth-Clibborn, founder of the press, said that examples of the map originally went for £3,000 at the
Frieze Art Fair in 2004.
The auction brought in a total of £1.1 million for the press, which will use the proceeds for renovation and refurbishment. A set of
Damien Hirst colored etchings titled
In a Spin, the Action of the World on Things, Volume II (2002) was the highest seller, going for £72,500.
