Six Degrees of MoMA

NEW YORK—No matter what art party you attend in New York these days, it seems you can almost always find a connection to the Museum of Modern Art, and this week's events were no exception to the six degrees of MoMA trend. On April 9, the Association of International Photography Art Dealers (AIPAD) launched its annual photography show, which runs from April 10 to 13 at the Park Avenue Armory, with a gala preview. The evening benefited the John Szarkowski Fund, which is an endowment for photography acquisitions at MoMA, and spotted among the partygoers were gallerist Robert Klein, collector Clarissa Bronfman, and even the New York Post's celebrity gossip columnist, Cindy Adams.

Also this week, PaceWildenstein hosted the opening of Thomas Nozkowski's first solo show at the gallery. The exhibition, on view April 4 to May 3 , coincides with a survey of the artist's work at the Fisher Landau Center in Long Island City, which ends April 14, and the MoMA show "Multiplex: Directions in Art, 1970 to Now," which features two of Nozkowski's paintings and is up at the museum until July 28. Artists Kiki Smith and Jill Moser, as well as power painter couple Sylvia and Robert Mangold and art critic Peter Schjeldahl, showed up to celebrate Nozkowski's recent work.
