Body of Hitchhiking Italian Artist Found in Turkey

ANKARA, Turkey—The body of Italian artist Giuseppina Pasqualino di Marineo was found nude in bushes in a forested area in Ankara, the Associated Press reports. Di Marineo, also known as Pippa Bacca, was hitchhiking in a wedding dress from her hometown of Milan to Israel as a statement for peace. She had been with a friend, from whom she separated around Istanbul, and was last seen in Gebze on March 31.

The private news agency Dogan reported that di Marineo had been strangled with a rope. The police have arrested a suspect in the murder, a man who used her cell phone after her disappearance. He has not yet been charged.
