SAN JOSE, Calif.—EBay has announced that it will discontinue its Live Auctions platform, which hosts live auctions run by other companies, by the end of the year, reports the New York Times. Jim Ambach, the company's vice president of seller experience, said that eBay is currently focusing on aligning its resources with its priorities: boosting listings, improving buyer experience, and protecting the site from fraud.
LiveAuctioneers.com, a five-year partner of eBay, announced concurrently that it will launch an online art, antiques, and collectibles marketplace for its 700 auction house clients. The company boasts a database of 2.5 million active buyers. |
