Does
Frieze copublisher and
art fair cofounder
Matthew
Slotover rank high on
the
Dia Art Foundation’s list
of nominees for director? If
the conversation at a recent
New York gallery opening is
anything to go by, the answer
is yes. Several top art world
figures, including a member
of Slotover’s inner circle, were
overheard discussing whether
the London trailblazer should
accept an offer to take over the
post vacated by
Jeffrey Weiss
in March. Weiss, a former
curator at the
National Gallery
of Art in Washington, D.C.,
resigned after just nine months
on the job. One consideration
that’s sure to be high up:
whether Slotover would be willing
to relocate, like his Frieze
compatriot
Amanda Sharp,
to the other side of the pond.
