British street artist Nick Walker sold £750,000 (1.5 million) worth of art during the opening week of his show at Black Rat Gallery in Shoreditch, east London, his first solo exhibition in the U.K., Bloomberg reports. Nearly all of the 60 paintings and prints in the show feature Walker's alter ego, the "Bowl-Hatted Vandal," and prices range from £2,000 to £35,000.
Two new prints by the artist were also issued online in editions of 150 to mark the opening of the exhibit, selling out in seconds, according to gallery director Mike Snelle. The complete edition of a third print was reserved for the first 75 people in line at the gallery, and people camped out overnight. Copies of the print, Life's 2 Short, have already made their way onto eBay, priced at up to £13,000.
Snelle and Walker had previously laser-beamed Walker's images onto London landmarks like Big Ben to promote the show, which continues through May 3.
