Geneva dealer Pierre Huber says ShContemporary should not continue without him.

But Huber won’t be entirely absent from China this September. He will again award the €50,000 ($77,000) Pierre Huber Prize he introduced last year. The winner will be announced in Beijing just ahead of the slated openings of the Shanghai Biennale and ShContemporary. Although he regrets having to quit ShContemporary after “only the first phase” of what he says was intended as a “global” project, Huber claims that there is “no reason” why he shouldn’t pursue his dream of launching fairs in four regions. The first would be a “Best of Latin America” in 2010; then he would head to India and Eastern Europe. “Don’t write me off!” Huber warns. “I’ll show people what I’m capable of.”
