Keith Haring Mural to Be Recreated on the BoweryBy ARTINFO
Published: April 22, 2008
The mural was Haring's first major outdoor project but lasted only a few months because its colors began to fade in the sun. Haring decided to paint over the work himself, asking the photographer Tseng Kwong Chi to document it before he did. The photographs as well as paint samples recovered by scraping away 25 years of graffiti on the wall will allow Gotham Scenic, the studio in charge of the project, and which also restored Haring's Crack Is Wack mural in Harlem River Park last September under the foundation's direction, to engender a faithful replica. |
