N. S. Harsha Wins Artes Mundi Prize

CARDIFF, Wales—Cardiff, WALES—Indian artist N. S. Harsha has won the 2008 Artes Mundi Prize. Harsha was recognized for his politically charged works in the tradition of Indian miniature painting as well as his large-scale installations and community projects.

The £40,000 ($79,000) biannual prize, the largest international prize in the U.K., recognizes outstanding emerging artists who explore the human condition. Previous winners are Xu Bing and Eija-Liisa Ahtila.
