Regional Art Prizes to Be Unveiled at Art Dubai

DUBAI—Dubai-based Abraaj Capital is offering three prizes for the best works from the Middle East, North Africa, and Southeast Asia, each worth $200,000, to be unveiled at Art Dubai 2009, reports the Gulf Daily News.  

The Abraaj Capital Art Prize competition will be judged by an international panel and curators; applications may only be submitted by curators and must be signed with the participant.

"The Abraaj Capital Art Prize aims to empower the potential of emerging artists from these markets by affording them an international platform," said prize committee head and Art Dubai director Savita Apte.
