Ontario Arts Council Receives Extra $20 Million

TORONTO—Ontario's government has announced that it will provide $20 million (U.S. $19.8 million) in extra funding to the Ontario Arts Council over the next four years, the Toronto Star reports. The money will be distributed in installments of $5 million per year, raising the council's total government endowment to almost $60 million for the 2009–10 fiscal year. The arts council is the province's main funding establishment, with more than fifty programs for artists and arts organizations in Ontario.
