Partying with de Pury

The New Museum of Contemporary Art treated its guests to a party for the season on April 27 when it held its annual spring gala at New York's Cipriani ON 42nd street. The evening included an unveiling of an exclusive limited edition by Swiss cohorts Fischli/Weiss and an art installation by the Brazilian artist known as assume vivid astro focus. Art and media stars turned out in large numbers for the unquestionably hip and colorful affair, among them Project Runway's Nina Garcia, author Sue Hostetler, and artist Cindy Sherman.

Also spotted at the event was mega-seller Simon de Pury, who not only led a benefit auction of surprise items for the museum but threw his own party across the Atlantic this week as well. On April 30, Phillips de Pury & Co. opened an exhibition of new work by designer Rolf Sachs entitled "Take 2" at its new European headquarters in London — and what would an exhibition be without a stellar soiree? The opening reception on April 29 boasted a party-going countess and ping pong, to boot.
