Presented by Scotiabank and the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, the Sobey Art Award is given annually to a Canadian artist aged 40 or under. The winner of the award receives $50,000 (U.S. $50,800) and the runner-up $15,000.

The recipient of last year's award was Michel de Broin. This year’s winner will be named on Oct. 1, in Toronto.
