SALISBURY, England—Two men have vandalized the central stone in the Unesco World Heritage site Stonehenge in southwest England, reports the New York Times via Agence France-Presse. The incident, which took place last week, was the first in decades, according to the conservation organization English Heritage. Security guards spotted two men fleeing over a fence; using a hammer and screwdriver they removed a chip of stone about the size of a large coin and left a small scratch. The 5,000-year-old ring of monoliths, believed to have been constructed over several millennia, draws about 850,000 visitors a year.
