Leonard A. Lauder has stepped down as chairman of the board of trustees at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the New York Times reports. He remains a trustee, with full voting rights, and assumes the title chairman emeritus.

Lauder will be replaced by a team of two: Robert J. Hurst, formerly the museum’s president, and Brooke Garber Neidich, the outgoing vice chairman. Neil G. Bluhm, also an outgoing vice chairman, has been named the new president.

The artist Chuck Close will be leaving the board, and the artist Fred Wilson will be joining it.
