LOS ANGELES—The California Community Foundation has announced the 15 emerging and mid-career artists who will receive its one-year fellowships for 2008, the Los Angeles Times reports. Among the recipients of the $20,000 mid-career grants are Judie Bamber for painting, Hirokazu Kosaka for multimedia/interdisciplinary work, and Richard Hawkins for collage. Winning emerging artists, who receive $15,000 each, include Carlee Fernandez for sculpture and Julie Lequin in the multimedia/interdisciplinary category.

To celebrate 20 years of cooperation with J. Paul Getty Trust Fund for the Visual Arts, the Brody Arts Fund, and other groups, the foundation will also present a retrospective of work by some of the artists who have received fellowships in the past. "20 Years Ago Today, Supporting the Individual Artists in L.A." will run October 4 through January 11, 2009 at the Japanese American National Museum.
