MARSEILLE, France— Four paintings stolen from the
Museum of Fine Arts in Nice, France, last year have been found in a car in Marseille, reports the
New York Times. On August 5, 2007, masked gunmen held museum visitors and staff hostage and took
Claude Monet’s
Cliffs Near Dieppe,
Alfred Sisley’s
Lane of Poplars at Moret-sur-Loing, and
Jan Brueghel the Elder’s
Allegory of Water and
Allegory of Earth. More than ten people were arrested in connection with the theft.
