Architect Toyo Ito Gets American DebutBy ARTINFO

The conceptual design for Japanese Architect Toyo Ito's first American project, which he is creating for The University of California, Berkeley, Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive, has been unveiled by the joint institution, the New York Times reports.
The three-story arts complex, located in Berkeley, will include a cafe, two theaters, a screening room, a study center, and a library. The final design is anticipated in 2009, and the building is expected to be finished by 2013. Ito has completed experimental buildings in Sendai, Japan, as well as in Tokyo. |
