NEW YORK—Harold Holzer, the Metropolitan Museum of Art's senior vice president for external affairs, has stated that the Met plans to adhere to the Association of Art Museum Directors' new standards for antiquities acquisitions, reports Lee Rosenbaum on her blog CultureGrrl. According to the new rules, clear provenance for artifacts in museums should date back to the 1970 UNESCO convention. Met Director Philippe de Montebello, long an advocate ofAAMD's previous "10-year rolling rule," has not yet listed any of theartifacts in the museum's collection on AAMD's new online registry forantiquities lacking post-1970 provenance.
