LONDON— A lively new conceptual performance-art piece created by artist
Martin Creed for the
Tate Britian Duveens Commission 2008 features runners sprinting through the museum's neo-Classical sculpture galleries, the
New York Times reports. Creed, recipient of the
Turner Prize in 2001, created
Work No. 850 to "celebrate physicality and the human spirit," according to museum officials. Semiprofessional runners will sprint through the galleries every 30 seconds, for a salary of $19.95 per hour. The four-month-long performance is sponsored by
Sotheby's.
