NEW YORK—The Museum of Modern Art has acquired three Jasper Johns "Tantric Detail" paintings (1980–81) and Martin Puryear's sculpture C.F.A.O. (2006–07), director Glenn Lowry announced today. The director added that each of the works "represents a key historical moment in the artist's career."

The Johns paintings, which the artist kept in his own collection, were a gift from MoMA trustee Donald L. Bryant and board president Marie-Josee Kravis and her husband Henry, and bring the total of Johns work now in MoMA's collection to 19. The Puryear sculpture, which was featured in the artist's recent retrospective at the museum, was a gift from the museum's Painting and Sculpture Committee in honor of curator John Elderfield.

Other new painting and sculpture acquisitions include contemporary works by William Anastasi, Mark Bradford, Katharina Fritsch, Manfred Pernice, Franz West, Hannah Wilke, and Terry Winters.
