DUBUQUE, Iowa—The board of trustees of Dubuque’s Carnegie-Stout Public Library has accepted a $500,000 offer for its lauded Curtis Collection of art, reports the Chicago Tribune.
The collection will be sold to The Dubuque Cultural Preservation Committee, which has promised to turn it over the Dubuque Museum of Art. The board’s unanimous vote follows a deadlocked vote on accepting a $1.1 million offer from a museum in Fort Worth, Texas. The board accepted the local offer after city officials promised to commit $3.6 million to renovate the library. |
