September 2008 In the Air
NEW YORK—Word at the star-studded
Whitney Contemporaries’ Art Party in June was that actress
Michelle Trachtenberg, the troublemaking Georgina Sparks on the hit television show
Gossip Girl, is a confirmed art lover. Among her prizes: a painting of
Audrey Hepburn by Los Angeles artist
Patrick McCarthy. But Trachtenberg wasn’t bidding on anything at the silent auction in New York, where the glitterati included
Rachel Bilson,
James Franco and
Ivanka Trump. She says she’s holding out for her “dream” artwork—one of
Camille Rose Garcia’s creepy cartoon paintings. Luckily for her, Chelsea dealer
Jonathan LeVine just happens to be staging a show this month of Garcia’s works, which start at $20,000.
