BOSTON—Robert Mardirosian, a retired Massachusetts lawyer, was found guilty of possessing stolen paintings by a federal jury in Boston on Monday, the New York Times reports via the Associated Press.

The jury convicted Mardirosian of possession of seven paintings stolen by a former client from a Stockbridge, Massachusetts house in 1978. The theft included a Cézanne valued at over $29 million, which Mardirosian returned in 1999, but the statue of limitations on that piece has expired, and the judge adjusted the conviction to possession of six paintings.

Mardirosian, whose sentencing is scheduled for November 18, faces up to 10 years in prison. He has said that he plans to appeal.
