EAST HAMPTON, N.Y.—In an attempt to avoid trouble with the State Liquor Authority, East Hampton's Vered Gallery is hosting an “invitation only” private preview and champagne reception for its two-person exhibition of works by Samy D and Peter Maier on August 22, reports Artnet.

Last May, at a reception for photographer Steven Klein, the gallery's owner, Ruth Vered, was arrested and the gallery was shut down for serving alcohol without a license. By hosting a private affair with a guest list, the gallery is able to circumvent the strict New York State liquor laws.
