MIAMI—Miami’s Moore Space, an alternative venue founded in 2001 by collectors Rosa de la Cruz and Craig Robins to broaden the city's contemporary art scene, will close in October 2008.

“The Moore Space has been an important part of the cultural life in Miami,” said de la Cruz. “In the past eight years, it has made a significant contribution to the dialogue and understanding of contemporary art. I think that we’ve accomplished our goals.”

The Moore Space has presented a number of innovative exhibitions, projects, and performances featuring such artists as Hernan Bas, John Bock, Carlos Amorales, Jim Drain, Naomi Fisher, Allora & Calzadilla, Jeppe Hein, Aida Ruilova, Jim Lambie, Bert Rodriguez, Joan Jonas, Patty Chang, Tracy + The Plastics, TM Sisters, and Kalup Linzy.
