Steve McQueen Wins Venice Film Festival Prize

VENICE—Artist Steve McQueen has won the Gucci Group Award at the Venice Film Festival for his film Hunger, which also won the Camera d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.
Hunger takes on the final weeks in the life of hunger striker Bobby Sands.
Other nominees for the award included Isaac Julien, for his bio-pic about late director Derek Jarman, Derek; 2007 Gucci Group Award winner Julian Schnabel, for Lou Reed's Berlin; and Beastie Boy Adam Yauch for Gunnin' for That No. 1 Spot, a documentary about high-school basketball players in Harlem.
