NEW YORK—An electrical fire on West 21st Street cut short several Chelsea openings last night. The fire, which began at approximately 6:45, forced guests at Casey Kaplan, Tanya Bonakdar, and Kravets/Wehby galleries to be evacuated from new shows of work by Nathan Carter, Ryan Gander and Peggy Preheim, and Sydney Chastain-Chapman, respectively.
The three galleries reported minimal damage, though a little cleanup was required and a few lights might take a few days to be up and running again. Each of the galleries has rescheduled its opening for this evening.
