"Peter's winning painting acts as a tantalizing and provocative glimpse into the way we think," judge Graham Crowley said. The biennial John Moores prize is the biggest contemporary painting competition in the U.K. Currently in its 50th year, the prize awards £25,000 pounds ($45,520) to the winner. Past recipients of the prize include David Hockney, Richard Hamilton, and Peter Doig.
