An Uberdealer Invades MoscowBy Valentin Diaconov

As always, Gagosian is keeping mum about the show’s sales results. Rumors flew after the 2007 show that 60 percent had been pre-sold (and sources say that at least one Rothko painting stayed in Moscow), but nobody at Gagosian would confirm or deny the numbers. Now, with talk of building a part-state, part-corporate museum of contemporary art in Moscow, Gagosian’s stash could prove especially useful. And yet no one will publicly admit buying anything from the dealer. Maybe that remains a guilty pleasure for Moscow’s rich.
