DALLAS—Dallas's art scene got a boost this weekend with the opening of the Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas Art Lab, reports the Dallas Morning News.
The privately owned, 4,000-square-foot venue, an initiative of the Contemporary Art Dealers of Dallas, will host six curated thematic exhibitions a year drawn from the 11 member galleries; the inaugural show, "Indexing the Moment," includes pieces exploring the theme of capturing time and space. In addition, the Art Lab will develop and host educational programs for artists, collectors, museum professionals, and the general community. John Crawford, CEO of DowntownDallas, said the center encourages the "live, work, play environment" the nonprofit seeks for downtown. "This is very much for the general public," said Art Lab director Anne Lawrence. |
