Beijing’s Long MarchSpace, one of ninenewcomers, is bringing workby two Chinese artists: LinTianmiao, whose mannequinlikefigures encased inluminescent materials sell for$80,000 and up, and GuoFengyi, who draws complexcompositions of historic sitesand human biological systemsthat are priced at about$12,000 each. São Paulo’sGaleria Vermelho featuresthe work of the Brazilian-bornduo Angela Detanico andRafael Lain, whose collaborativeinstallations, objects andvideos investigate the formsand systems of languageand are priced from $5,000. “The Frieze fair, with itsdevotion to living artists, has areal freshness to it,” says AlexDodge, of New York’s CRGGallery, which is displaying amix of sculpture and photographyby emerging artistsColby Bird, O Zhang andMindy Shapero with pricetags under $10,000.
