Wynn, a casino operator in Las Vegas, had accidentally poked his elbow through the 1932 portrait of Picasso's mistress, Marie-Therese Walter, while showing it to friends in 2006. The incident occurred the day after he had agreed to sell the work to Cohen for $139 million, a deal that was canceled as a result of the damage. The repaired painting now hangs in Wynn's office. The show will include 12 paintings, a plaster sculpture, and two drawings, all inspired by Walter, who the 45-year-old Picasso first met on the streets of Paris in 1927. |
